March 23rd is Diabetes Awareness Day! Together with our patients we have gathered and published a diabetic cook book with some of our favorite recipes. We will be handing these out in our office to patients as well and taking them around the community. The Diabetes learning centers at both Kadlec and Kennewick General will also have copies to give to patients. If you or someone you know are interested in having a copy, let us know we’d be happy to get you one!
Dental Health Month
February is Dental Health Month!
Today we were in the elementary schools having fun while we were teaching the kids the importance of brushing and flossing. We talked about healthy food choices, and had some fun activities that they can participated in! The energy we got from those kids was great! We heard all sorts of stories and I think some family secrets may have been told about moms and dads who don’t brush :-0
Below are some pictures of the kids wearing tooth costumes, while others placed “sugar bugs” on the tooth. We learned how to brush so that we got all the “sugar bugs” off the tooth!
Wish we could of stayed and played all day! Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your schools for the day!
Highlands Middle School Career Day
Today we were in the class room from 8am-2pm speaking to hundreds of students about the wonderful career opportunity of Dentistry! The students at Highlands Middle School in Kennewick were a great audience! We are able to answer lots of great questions for them and give valuable take home information. Thank you for letting us be a part of this great opportunity you provide for your students. All ready looking forward to next year!!
Career Day
We were invited to be a part of Highlands Middle School 2010 Career Day! We will be talking to 400 students about dentistry being a career choice. We will also give them information about being a dental assistant, hygienist and a dentist. Some of the information presented will be about the schooling involved, job descriptions and pay scales. We are very excited to talk to these students and give them information that will help them in choosing a career path.

Cash For Candy= Success!
What a HUGE success Cash For Candy was! Together we collected thousands of pounds of candy at our local drop off sites. The support from the community was overwhelming! It was so fun to see these kids bringing in pillowcases of candy to donate to Cash For Candy, and of course collect the $1 a pound. We had all ages participate, local groups, churches and schools. Everyone who donated big or small knew it was for a good cause and was more than happy to help.
We are planning to do this again next year and are expecting to have more health care professionals involved, which means more drop off sites for people to donate! Looking forward to continuing to make this a HUGE success in years to come!
Thank you all who played a part in this we couldn’t of done this with out any of you!

The Troops
We are buying back candy from the kids for $1 a pound. Candy will be boxed up and shipped over seas to the troops. We are excited to be able to help them out after all they have done and continue to to for us! The troops will not only enjoy this candy but will also use to to befriend the locals who then will be willing to give them info on where IE D’s are hiding. It’s amazing what a little candy can get you!
