Dental Implants

A Long-Term Solution for Missing Teeth

Dental implants are used today to replace one or more missing teeth or to secure bridges or dentures with the similar strength of a natural tooth. As such, they combine both restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Dental implants function just like a natural, healthy tooth. They also help preserve the jaw bone and prevent collapse of the smile and face due to missing teeth.

Evaluation

We'll evaluate your teeth, identify and examine the problem area(s), and discuss your options for moving forward. In preparation for the placement of the implant, we may need to remove a broken or decayed tooth or do a bone graft.

Step 2

Implant Placement

During this step, an artificial root made of titanium is placed where a natural tooth root would go. Over the next few months, the implant will form a secure, structural bond with the jaw bone that will support all the functions of a natural tooth.

Step 3

Crown Placement

We'll place a custom crown over the implant that will look and feel like a natural tooth. Because we take impressions to ensure your crown is the exact size and shape you need, this process takes place over two visits.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Implants

Thinking about getting one or more dental implants? Here are answers to common questions we get about the dental implant process.

Dental crowns are a replacement for a broken or missing tooth. If the original tooth is structurally sound, the crown may be placed on top of it. However, if the tooth is missing or badly damaged or decayed, an implant can be placed and the crown will instead attach to the implant. In short, crowns and implants are tools that, when used together, can help restore your smile.

Levels of coverage can vary quite a bit when it comes to dental insurance. Many dental insurance plans do not cover the cost of the implant procedure, but they may cover the cost of the crown itself. However, we have had cases where a patient's medical insurance provider has covered all or part of the implant procedure. If you have questions about affording your dental care, please see our payment options and look into our cost-saving Dental Wellness Program for people without dental insurance.

Many patients report that the dental implant procedure is less painful than they expected, and nearly all return to regular activity within 24 hours. With any dental procedure, your comfort is our number one priority. If you are nervous about getting a dental implant, talk to us about our pain relief and sedation dentistry options.
